It all started with Daniel. After years in professional kitchens, he was ready to trade the chef’s knife for a dream of his own. The mission? Create the ultimate drink to kick his own alcohol intake. He spent months playing with teas and mushrooms, but let’s just say the "magic" wasn't quite happening yet.

Instead of giving up, Daniel fell even deeper down the beverage rabbit hole. The result? An 'Aha!' moment fueled by the sweet, fermented fizz of Tepache.

Daniel dove headfirst into the world of fermentation, becoming obsessed with perfecting that authentic Mexican flavor using every pineapple variety and traditional procedure he could find.
He actually turned his kitchen into a fermentation lab. The obsession was going great—until the "Great Midnight Explosion." One night, while the apartment was silent, the fermenting test bottles decided they’d had enough. They burst, turning the kitchen into a pineapple-scented war zone.

That’s when his wife, Frida, officially joined the team—mostly to ensure their kitchen stayed in one piece. With Frida bringing order to the chaos, they just needed one more piece of the puzzle to make it official.
Soon after, the couple’s best man from their wedding, Manuel, hopped on board to turn this passion project into a real-deal family business, helping build the foundation of the company.

What started as one chef’s obsession to create a stunning, non-alcoholic brew quickly turned into a family mission: bringing authentic Mexican tepache to modern refrigerators.
After countless recipes, a few too many exploding test bottles (oops!), and late-night experiments, Coqueto was finally born.
Today, we lovingly craft a refreshing tepache inspired by our Mexican roots and brewed with a little extra care right here in Vancouver.
